Growing Life Long Learning

Get in Touch

Its FANTASTIC FRIDAY, the end of the week hooray.  Mrs Loquens has put on a singing assembly and I have put on a clip about snails which ties in with your fact work later on.

This week we are going to be thinking about limericks, a limerick is a short nonsense poem. I have included some instructions for how to write your own limerick. We enjoyed the funny poems you posted on the gallery last week well done, they made us smilesmiley.  A limerick needs to rhyme so if you are struggling with rhyming words use the online site rhyme zone. You can write the limerick about yourself or someone you know or it can be total nonsense.  Please post them on the gallery as it makes us happy to see your creations. I have also included some examples of limericks to give you some ideas.  The sheet gives you guidance on the rhyme pattern and the syllables, here are some pointers to help you make your limerick.

  1. Choose the name of a person or place and write the first line.
  2. Look in a rhyming dictionary for words that rhyme with your person or place name.
  3. Write line 2 and 5 to rhyme with the first line.
  4. Now write lines 3 and 4 with a different rhyme.

Friday Fantastic Facts

This is a new element we are going to include weekly.  It gives you 3 fun facts you might not know and then asks you to complete 3 more.  You will have to do a little research but it shouldn't take too long, you can record your facts in your book. I have included a clip of the sea lion.  Go for it fact finders.

Start off with your 1 minute big maths using your sheet from yesterday and then we are doing some more work on 24 hour time. I have included the telling the time game which you should practise in the 24 hour clock.  GOAL solving problems with the 24 hour clock; to help you do your work I have done a loom powerpoint which covers examples of the questions you are doing on your worksheets. If you do TYM A = worksheets 1a and b, TYM B = 2a and b, TYM C = 3a and b.  If you are finding it tricky go to the numbered worksheets before, if you finish quickly extend yourself and go up to the next worksheets.  For those of you starting on worksheet 3 I have put an extension activity on for you.

Have a good weekend.  Well done for completing your week of homeschooling. I have included your Friday end of day clip.
