Good morning Nursery children and parents,
The week has flown for us. We hope it is going well for you too.
Yesterday, we looked at patterns made using pegs so today we will investigate shape patterns. What shapes can your child see in the picture above? Which colours can they see? Can they describe the pattern?
Now let your child have a go at playing the Espresso game below. The aim of the game is to identify and complete the patterns. These games are great for your child's hand and eye coordination.
Seeing as we are learning about the police this week and knowing that police need to sometimes investigate, we thought it would be nice to go on an alphabet investigation hunt. Before your hunt, your child will need a walkie talkie so that they can report back to you.
Using recycled boxes and materials, ask your child to make a walkie talkie.
If they're feeling really creative they could also make a magnifying glass if you haven't already got one at home.
Now it's time to let the investigation commence. The letters we've learnt so far are: s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, e, h, r, m, d, g, o, u, l, f, b and j. Make individual cards with each letter name. Hide them around the house and garden. Also write the letters on a sheet for your child to use so they can cross off the ones they've found. Explain to your child that the letters have gone missing and they need to be police officers and investigate where they have disappeared to. They can use their magnifying glass to search for them and walkie talkies to report their findings to you.
Don't forget to share a story,
Enjoy your day,
Mrs Loquens and Miss Leeson
