QUINTON PRIMARY SCHOOL SPEAKFEST - THURSDAY 16th JULY
On Thursday 16th July, we will be holding our first ever SpeakFest, on the stage in our school hall! Here at Quinton, this will be a celebration of pupil voice, not designed as a performance, but as a showcase of confidence, expression and communication.
Each class will be working together in school to prepare a whole-class piece! In addition to this, there is the opportunity for children to prepare an individual entry. This is where you come in! Please discuss with your child at home whether they would like to give this a go, and discuss what they might like to prepare. Ideas include, but are not limited to: poetry recital, short speeches, storytelling, debate or persuasive talk and dramatic monologues!
Depending on the level of interest, we may hold class auditions to determine which individual pieces are selected for SpeakFest. Further details will be shared if this becomes necessary.
There will be no winners, but we will have recognitions linked to our school values, such as:
Aspirational Speaker – ambitious language and ideas
Brave Performer – confidence and risk-taking
Compassionate Voice – powerful message or empathy
Team Voice Award – collaboration in group/class performance
We are incredibly excited about this event and look forward to celebrating the voices, talents and ideas of our pupils.
Thank you in advance for your support,
The Quinton Team
Geography Enrichment Day
Yesterday, some of our Key Stage 2 children took part in a fantastic Geography Enrichment Day packed with exciting, hands-on learning. We began the day with a visit from Geoff from WaterAid, who taught us all about the importance of clean, safe water around the world. The children learned about the global water crisis, the challenges many communities face in accessing clean water, how WaterAid supports people to improve sanitation and hygiene, and the simple changes that can make a huge difference to people's lives. The children then took part in a range of practical activities to help them understand these challenges. They experienced the effort involved in carrying water over distances, explored different ways of filtering water, and learned how to use tippy taps – simple handwashing stations that help improve hygiene in areas where running water is unavailable.
In the afternoon, our focus shifted to extreme weather. The children explored the causes and impacts of floods and droughts before working in teams to design and build their own villages using LEGO and Mega Bloks. They carefully considered where to build their settlements and included flood defences to protect their communities. Finally, it was time to put their designs to the test as we flooded the villages to see which defences were the most effective!
It was a fantastic day filled with enquiry, teamwork and problem-solving. We were incredibly proud of all of our young geographers, who showed great curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm throughout the day. Well done everyone!

Year 5 Girls' Football
On Tuesday, a group of our Year 5 girls represented the school at a football tournament at Alcester Town Football Club.
Although they were a little reserved at the start, the girls quickly grew in confidence and played some fantastic football throughout the tournament. They showed great determination, teamwork and resilience, improving with every match. After losing their opening game, they bounced back brilliantly to draw the second before finishing the tournament with two well-deserved victories.
A huge well done to all of the girls for their excellent attitude, effort and sportsmanship - you should all be incredibly proud of your achievements. Thank you also to the parents and carers for your support and encouragement, which is always greatly appreciated.

Quinton Primary School is a village school about six miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. It has grown in size since September 2010 and, as a result of extensions to the existing building in the summer of 2014, is now single form entry with in excess of 240 children on roll.
Our latest successful Ofsted in June 2022 (published in September 2022) has confirmed that we continue to have a “good” school with high standards where both children and staff are highly motivated to do their very best. We have a school where our key priority is happy children who we want to look back on their school days as the best days of their lives.
