Safeguarding our pupils is a top priority. We deliver clear and consistent e-Safety messages through our Computing curriculum and reinforce these during everyday discussions with pupils.
However, there are occasions when issues relating to pupils’ online presence could have been avoided if established e-Safety guidelines had been followed. These include pupils understanding and taking responsibility for their online behaviour, accessing age-appropriate games and content, and families having clear structures and agreements in place regarding when and how pupils are online.
While we cannot control everything that is posted online, we can work together to keep pupils safe by establishing clear expectations and maintaining open, honest conversations about online activity.
As a parent or carer, you play a vital role in helping your child stay safe online.
The UK Safer Internet Centre website offers a wide range of practical advice, guides, and resources to support you in keeping your child safe online.
We strongly encourage you to review the games and apps your child is accessing and to follow the developer’s guidance regarding age appropriateness when making decisions. The following link has more information regarding this.

National Online Safety
To help ensure that parents and carers have access to robust, up-to-date advice in the ever-changing online world, we are now working in partnership with National Online Safety to provide high-quality resources for all families.
These resources include dedicated Parents & Carers courses (presented by Myleene Klass), online video content, and weekly guides covering a wide range of relevant topics. New guides are added every week, helping us all stay informed about emerging trends, apps, and online concerns. The guides are detailed and practical, giving adults the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their children’s online activity. They also offer helpful advice on how to start conversations and address any issues that may arise through internet use.
As a starting point, we recommend watching the Parent & Carer course relevant to your child’s age group. By engaging with the resources after logging in as a Quinton Parent/Carer, you are also helping us demonstrate our ongoing commitment to Online Safety and our belief that this is a vital part of safeguarding children in today’s digital world.
To create your account, please follow the link below and complete your details. Once registered, you will be able to select ‘Parent/Carer’ as your user type.
