At Quinton Primary School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment where all children feel protected, valued and able to thrive. The wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority, and we work in close partnership with families, staff and external agencies to ensure children are kept safe from harm.
We have robust safeguarding and child protection procedures in place which are followed consistently by all staff. Everyone working in school understands their responsibility to safeguard children, knows how to recognise concerns, and is confident in taking appropriate action. We promote a vigilant culture in which concerns are shared promptly, recorded carefully and acted upon in a timely manner.
Our approach to safeguarding is proactive and preventative. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, including online safety, through the curriculum, assemblies and daily practice. We ensure that pupils feel listened to and know who they can talk to if they are worried about themselves or others.
We work closely with the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and other relevant agencies to provide effective support for pupils and families where concerns are identified. This partnership working helps ensure that children receive the right help at the right time.

Designated Safeguarding Leads
Quinton Primary School has four trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), who are responsible for overseeing safeguarding and child protection across the school, responding to concerns, and working closely with families and external agencies to keep children safe. All DSLs receive regular, up-to-date training in line with national guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), to ensure safeguarding practice remains robust and effective.

Prevent Duty
At Quinton Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding our pupils and promoting their welfare. As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, we have a duty under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This is known as the Prevent duty.
We work closely with Warwickshire County Council and follow local safeguarding and Prevent guidance to ensure that our approach is proportionate, age-appropriate and supportive. Our staff receive regular training so they are confident in recognising and responding to concerns related to radicalisation or extremist views.
Through our curriculum, assemblies and daily practice, pupils are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, understand right from wrong, respect others, and value diversity. We promote British Values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
Any concerns about a pupil’s safety or wellbeing are managed through our established safeguarding procedures. We work in partnership with families and external agencies where appropriate to ensure that all pupils are supported and kept safe.
Protective Behaviours
We teach protective behaviours to all children as part of our commitment to their safety and wellbeing.
This scheme of work is delivered through PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) lessons. The programme, entitled Taking Care, originated in the United States. We currently follow the Warwickshire programme designed by Ann Seal (WCC).
The aim of the programme is to equip children with age-appropriate strategies to help them understand and express their feelings, while developing awareness of their personal safety and wellbeing.
