The Governing Body
Governor Membership Feb 2024
The Governing Body is made up of a group of appointed volunteers who each with their own skills and strengths have the common aim of ensuring pupils receive the best education possible whilst at the school. They work closely with the Headmaster and are actively involved in making important decisions which affect the strategic direction of the school.
The Governors meet regularly and comprise members from four different categories, those of: Co-Opted Governor, Staff Governor, Parent Governor and Local Authority Governor. The school funds a training package to ensure that the Governing Body is up to date with legislation and educational issues as well as being able to understand the strategic role the governing body has. Each governor has a specific link to an area of school life and regular visits take place where they have a chance to see the school in action and talk to teachers and the children.
In order to support the Governing Body’s statutory obligations, governors form part of several panels that regularly meet and monitor school improvement priorities. These panels are the Pay Panel, Finance & Resource Panel, Performance & Standards Panel and the Safeguarding Panel.
Governing Body Mission Statement
The mission of the Governing Body is to ensure that the school provides a learning environment which creates opportunities for all children to develop their skills in a safe, caring and stimulating way. To achieve this the Governing Body will strive to:
- Challenge and support the school by actively monitoring, reviewing and evaluating its performance
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the school
- Maintain a school which is environmentally sustainable and financially secure
Safeguarding
The Governing Body is fully committed to protect and safeguard the children in our care. All governors have enhanced DBS disclosures which means they are cleared by the police to work with children.
